So what would it be?
Shipping? Grimdark? Crossover? Romance?
For me, I write shipping, romance, adventure, comedy, and mystery. o:

I don't have a specific genre, but I've being working on mostly surrealistic stories for a while.
I suck at writing romance and grimdark stuff.

I have a fanfiction that's shippy I guess. It's an OC romance (yes you can shoot me go ahead) It's kinda embarrassing actually. XD
But in original fiction I've tried my hands at many things. My first stories were all like medieval fantasy with like dragons and swords and that failed horribly. I've tried my hand at writing more modern fantasy and that was okay. I once wrote a really dark novel for Camp NaNoWriMo and that was alright but partway through I felt like I was just writing gore for the hell of it with no real meaning to it (you know like action movies and excessive explosions). And then this NaNoWriMo I wrote kinda an allegory fic and that was pretty fun except it was crap. XD It started out good but by the end of it it didn't have much of a deeper meaning anymore. So now I want to maybe rewrite that into an actual allegory and try and get it published!
