>ITT: we fight each other to death about which gen is the best
I liked every gen, but honestly for absolute favourite, I'm tied between Gen 4 and 5.
They both had nice Pokémon, and great characters. Plus, Gen 5 had some -gasp- actual plot! By that I mean it was more elaborate than the previous gens. The regions were also fun to explore and gen 4 Battle Frontier is the best thing in the world.

I'm going to go with gen 4. Battle Frontier is still the best thing in any Pokemon game ever. It also was the last gen with contests >.> while I prefer Pokeblocks, poffin was alright too. It was better than the damn musicals. Gen 5 was fun but the fucking Pokemon...

Battle Frontier makes it that you can keep playing for pretty much forever even when you're done with everything post game. Also, something about the contests in R/S/E always rubbed me the wrong way. :T I like the D/P/PT ones better (the Pokeathlon is great too, but I liked the contests better lol).
the musicals though dancing legendaries with umbrellas

Something about them wasn't really 100%, although they were still fun. I prefer the ones in D/P/P. The musicals were useless unless you did them with drunk friends. That shit is hilarious

I like Gen III because of Hoenn and The Sevii Islands in the RBY remakes, but I agree that Gen V has the best plot of the gens.

Pokeblocks in R/S/E was the best shit ever. Seriously. So much fun. I never did the contests because they bored me to DEATH but the pokeblocks were so ridiculously fun when I got all my friends to join in! Pokeathlon was great too just because of all the fun little games. They were all pretty awesome. And dress-up in Gen IV was pretty sweet too. I didn't really like the musical though. It just felt kinda pointless to me? I mean all you get is new accessories. No ribbons or anything. How am I supposed to feel accomplished if there's not much of a real contest to it?!
I can't really choose a favourite gen because there were good and bad in all of them. I really like the story and Pokemon of Gen V and I'm gaining a new appreciation for Gen IV Pokemon as I replay my Pearl. seriously Gastrodon is the cutest thing ever And there were a lot of cool Pokemon in Gen III but I hated using them for whatever reason. Like Absol and Tropius. Tropius looks so cool but I just couldn't play with it. I dunno why. :/ And Mawile. Man. I wish I had a use for Mawile because that thing's freaky cool.

R/S/E was my first and favourite. <3 I loved Secret Bases! I had the best one hidden in a bush! I loved the Pokémon and the design of the region but the storyline was shit. I really want to see it remade with some extras like a better storyline. D/P/P was good too! I became obsessed with contests but was devastated when the weren't in B/W/B2/W2. ;; A ;; I would enter my Milotic in beauty contest, it almost always won! Poffins were better than PokéBlocks in my opinion. Me and my friends raced to see who could get all the legendaries first. I won. MINING OMG. I loved Mining too. I would do it with my friends and we did the flag stealing game. G/S/C/HG/SS were great too! I really liked having Pokémon follow you around the place! (HG/SS) Bug contests were fun and the legendaries were placed in the best places ever. On top of a tower which had a wobbly thing in the middle and in a cave/maze below the water. I really like the design of Johto too! It was connected to Kanto, but I never really liked Kanto. B/W/B2/W2 was O.K. I didn't really like the region, and some of the Pokémon looked revolting. www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/631.shtml Ew. Heatmor. But a lot of the Pokémon were acceptable. www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/569.shtml I loved Garbodor. He's not ugly. I hated the region. Except N's Castle and Castelia City. I hated Gen 1. Not the Pokémon, just the storyline and region. Here's my favourite generations in order: 1. Gen 3 <33 2. Gen 2 3. Gen 4 4. Gen 5 5. Gen 1 (I never really liked it. ) If only they mixed all the regions into one game. That would be like the best Pokémon game ever!

Holy shit I almost forgot the Underground in D/P/P! That was the most awesome way to get evolution stones EVER. The underground was goddamn amazing I loved the secret bases and capture the flag aaaarrrrgh This really makes me miss gen 4. So according to use the best Pokemon game would have the storyline of B/W, the contests of D/P/P, either pokeblocks or poffins, and all the regions? What about the music? Which gen do you think had the best?

gonna have to disagree on "all the regions" that'd be way too much plot happening at the same time WAY overleveled pokemon by the second region and it'd be a really long game in general
also the best way to get more $$$ is to make separate games so lol not happening

double post fight me irl, etc.
THE UNDERGROUD WAS THE GREATEST LINK THING EVER. Me and my friends would have races and battles. <3 Also it's how I got my Spiritomb and that shit's great.
Best music I'd go with the more recent gens (4-5). I like chiptunes a lot but a game with more elaborate music would be best lol (and lots of 8bit channels on one track wouldn't sound so great). no gen 3 because the only good MIDI trumpets are touhou trumpets

Gen 4. It was when I really got into Pokemon. It's when I started a website, when I played the games obsessively, when the only music I had was Pokemon music, and all that. I feel a personal closeness with all the generation 4 Pokemon because they were so important to my life at that point.
