Okay, so you probably have tons of knowledge about what this is about (considering it's pretty much one of THE most controversial topics of the year). But just for clarification, pro-life refers to being against abortions and pro-choice for people that believe it's the mother's choice. Which are you?
(Warning: a little American politics mixed in, just ignore if they don't apply to you)
This has always been confusing me. I've always had my church and family going on about why pro-life is the way to go and then gone online where everyone is ranting about pro-choice. While I do acknowledge that a woman has the right to do with her body what she pleases, she does not have the right to do whatever she pleases to the body of her unborn child. If she never wanted to have a child, she can use protection or just practice abstinence. Yes, I know that it's a horribly abstract concept, but, sometimes, we pay the consequences of our actions. What made an unborn child any less human than a baby that was just born? I also understand that accidents happen. Sometimes teenagers act like idiots and go and get themselves or their girlfriends pregnant. That's why we need to spend more money on programs warning kids of the dangers of unprotected sex and not just on fixing the problems after they happen. We can't just tell kids that they can get right off the hook by killing their own child. How on Earth, in any context, could that be considered acceptable?
Everyone also seems to forget that there are alternatives to abortion. If you're unable to take care of your kid, put them up for adoption! Many couples are very excited about raising a kid when they're unable to have one of their own. I know that it can be difficult for the mother to see her child go to be raised by some strangers, but it isn't near as bad as going to get them /killed/! It's also very emotionally devastating for most patients when the operation was over. Some are in therapy for years.
Addressing abortions for children with abnormalities: still disagree with them. Let the child decide for themselves if they want to live! (not literally ask the fetus, but give them a chance at life.)
Abortions that need to be done if the mother is to survive or when a child had a serious defect that spells death and can't be fixed or "bandaged": okay, okay, you've got me. The mother's life is always going to be valued over the child's when nobody knows him/her and if the child seriously /will/ die, then nothing else can really be done.
Sorry I ranted, just post opinions kay
